What is the Arctic Policy Cohort?

This is a unique opportunity to engage with Arctic policy at the national and international levels through a series of virtual workshops! Together, we’ll explore how Arctic Policy affects you and your community day-to-day. We’ll connect with other young people, guest speakers, organizations, and a range of topics related to decision-making in Northern Canada and beyond.

There will be three virtual Arctic policy workshops. The workshops will focus on developing a basic understanding of international Arctic governance, the different institutions and actors, their different roles, and Northern Canada’s current policy issues and developments. You’ll explore how different institutions operate and learn about the knowledge and skills required to participate in decision-making spaces.

The workshop program will be a combination of presentations, facilitated group conversations, and breakout sessions. Upon completion of the workshop series, the intended outcome is that you’ll have a better understanding of Arctic policy and be better equipped to engage with policies and decision-makers that impact your lives.

Foster awareness among Northern and Arctic youth of the importance of International Arctic Policy
Support your knowledge and understanding of the key institutions, structures and processes involved in policy development and implementation
Inspire you to contribute to policy development and implementation
Offer you future opportunities to engage with policy (networking, conferences, events, education etc.)
