Why Climate Action is Important to Me

A reflection on climate action from Denis Kavanna.

Growing up I got to hear stories from my grandfather, James Kavanna, about how different things in Cambridge Bay were back when they had nothing but tiny houses and how it was easier to get food.

These days it’s harder to get food because of how much the environment has changed during these years – in just two generations between my grandfather and I.

Today community members have to travel far to get traditional food. Climate action is important to me because I want today’s youth and children to have better and healthier space for animals and the whole community. I want to make change in my community!
