With only one month to go before the start of the 2015 Arctic Expedition, things are buzzing at the SOI home office. The excitement in the air is palpable as we begin our inventory of supplies, craft this year’s education program, and reach out to our fantastic crew of educators and students.
As we celebrate our 15th year at SOI, there is a feeling that this is going to be a special expedition. With 110 students, 70 staff, 3 children, and even a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) dog, this is our largest expedition to date. We will also be using our largest ship to date, the MS Ocean Endeavour, to help us navigate the western coast of Greenland from Kangerlussuaq to Uummannaq, and then across the Davis Strait to Canada’s Pond Inlet and Resolute Bay, with a few stops in National Parks and other sites of interest along the way.
To share in some of our excitement, visit our new videos page, photo gallery, or past expeditions and soak in 15 years of Polar education and adventure. Check back soon for Q&As with our education staff, and other pre-expedition highlights. As of July 27th, expect regular photo, blog, and video updates directly from the students and our talented team of multimedia professionals.
T-minus one month to go – time to get our game faces on!
