Hi! My name is Rodala, and I am beyond excited to embark on this once in a lifetime opportunity. I recently graduated from Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon, SK, and will be moving to Ottawa this fall to study at Carleton University in a Bachelors of Global and International Studies. Throughout high school, I have participated in our school musicals, score kept at various sporting events, and was elected by my student body as Co-President to lead the Student Representative Council. My community involvement includes learning classical Indian Dance for over ten years, teaching and choreographing dance pieces, volunteering for international non-profit organizations, and working part time! After taking a Native Studies class, I grew interested and passionate about the polar regions. It was an unknown territory that only few had ventured. I can’t wait to expand my knowledge and understanding of the polar region – its climate, culture, history and politics. I hope this trip helps establish what kind of a role I play in the Arctic, and how I can contribute to resolving many of the complex issues that surround it.
