It seems impossible to convey much about anyone in a little written bio, but in an attempt to cover the basics: I am a 17 year old student going into my senior year at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco, California. I have always loved exploration and the natural world so I am delighted to be participating in this expedition! I love to travel and encounter new people, places, creatures, food, startling new experiences, and the suchlike. My love for learning and imagination extends beyond physical traveling and so I avidly read books in search of thought-provoking worlds. I also enjoy a whole host of casual activities- playing the violin, birding, drawing, writing, listening to music, having philosophical discussions, making origami, designing sewn and knit gifts for loved ones- and I expect that as I move through life I’ll find many more to do. On a more serious note, I’ve always been passionate about preserving the environment and now on this trip I hope to learn more about the Arctic and what we as humans can do in the face of climate change. Although nature most often captures my heart I also am interested in various social causes like feminism and gay rights. Overall I hope to make a positive difference in this world. I eagerly await meeting everyone, and the Arctic, this July!
