Hi, my name is Helen Winnie Tooktoo. I am 19 years old. I am an Inuk and I come from a small town called Umiujaq, in Quebec. In my culture, the land is so important to us. The land is where we get our food and tools from. I follow my parents when they go camping. I grew up living with my parents, four other sisters and my brother. My siblings and I are very close and we help each other with everything even if there is conflict. When I graduated, all of my family supported me and that made me proud of myself. I have a positive life because of all the things that have happened in the past made me strong and courageous and confident. I am interested in Students on Ice because I like traveling, I like to meet new people, I like learning new things, and I like going out on the land.
