Hi, my name is Dylan Magner and I am 15 years old. I am a student in the TOPS Program for enriched math, science and English at Marc Garneau C.I. in Toronto, ON. When I am not occupied with schoolwork, I like to read, play piano and go for runs with my younger brother. I grew to love sports from a very young age and I have been cross country skiing with my family every winter for as long as I can remember. This year I was lucky enough to be able to compete at the Canadian Cross Country Ski Nationals in Corner Brook, NL, where I ranked 25th. I also love to get outdoors and discover new places. Last summer, I went on a twenty day canoe trip in Temagami, ON, where I was awed by the beauty of its evergreen forests, and have since been fundraising with Project Canoe to ensure that as many youth as possible have the opportunity to go on similar trips. I am so excited to be a part of this year’s expedition to the Arctic and look forward to broadening my understanding of the complex environmental challenges we face.
