My name is Andrea Goulais, I’m a young Ojibwe Francophone Anishnabe Kwe from Nipissing First Nation. From a young age I’ve been involved in my culture at ceremonies, gatherings and by receiving teachings. With this knowledge I’ve given others opportunities during sessions and presentations to help my people with reconciliation by sharing my culture and traditions with anyone who wishes to learn at both elementary and secondary levels, as well as teachers and various agencies across the province. One of my newest commitments is being a voice for the youth of my community as secretary on the Youth Council. Aside from that I’m a full-time grade 12 student. I fill my days with cultural events, enjoy exploring my artistic talents, my volunteer work and many adventures. I’m determined to become an architect one day to give back to the many underdeveloped First Nation communities by helping them built sustainable housing.
