CRE – Mataya Gillis

Kassidy Augustine, Mataya Gillis and Denver Edmunds.

My week in Montreal was amazing! From learning about my people’s rights to hanging out in the hotel with my new friends I made. We started the week off with getting to know each other, we talked about what reconciliation meant to us, and then we got into the sessions. During the sessions we got to learn about all kind of things that indigenous people are doing all over the world to fight the problems that we face every day that’s associated with reconciliation. By the end of the week I had made so many new friends, and I got to learn so much from so many people. Some people won’t understand but every time you get to be a part of something with Students on Ice it changes your life, even this delegation, I got to learn and make so many connections that will continue to change my life every day.
