Danielle Avakana Adjun

My name is Danielle Avakana Adjun, I grew up in Kugluktuk and attended high school in between Yellowknife, NT where I graduated and my hometown Kugluktuk. I was selected as a Nunavut participant for the 2007 Students On Ice Expedition and I really enjoyed my experience with the Students On Ice Team.  Growing up in Nunavut with my elders and family members, we were taught from a young age to appreciate our land and take care of it, keep it clean and protect it as it provides Nourishment/food to our animals that we lived off of for generations and generations. Sustaining our land and ensuring that we are doing the best we can in regards to keeping it clean for our animals enables future generations the same appreciation Inuit have always been taught. It is important now more than ever to help ensure that we can lead our generations and communities to decrease climate change. I am very interested in joining the Climate Action Change Cohort.
