Vinko Culjak Mathieu
Blue Futures Pathways, Digital & Content Coordinator

Originally from Argentina, Vinko immigrated to Canada when he was four years old and grew up in Ottawa. He now calls Montreal home and is delighted to have joined Students on Ice and the Blue Futures Pathways project in 2021!
Vinko brings a breadth of experiences to the SOI team. He has worked in Ottawa restaurants as a chef, operated his own web development business, and is an active science communicator. In 2012, he decided to return to school to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in biology, specializing in ecology. He subsequently worked as a cartographer and statistician for the federal government, then obtained a Master’s degree in Entomology at McGill University where he studied the interactions between plants and insects in the Canadian Arctic.
When not working, Vinko enjoys back-country camping, macro photography, and insect collecting. If it is too cold outside, you’ll find him indoors quilting, cooking up a storm, or caring for his pet tarantulas.
