Paula is a mineralogist in the Research & Collections division at the Canadian Museum of Nature. Her research is focused on the mineralogy and geochemistry of alkaline rocks, and the crystal chemistry of rare element-bearing minerals. Paula’s has two main research projects at this time: (1) the mineralogy and petrogenesis of the alkaline pegmatites of the Larvik Alkaline Plutonic Complex in southern Norway, and (2) gem zircons from Cenozoic alkaline basalts in both Thailand and Cambodia. In addition to research, Paula is an active contributor to educational programming within the museum and is the editor of the in-house Research & Collections newsletter. When not doing mineralogical research, Paula divides her time between training and teaching Muay Thai (Thai boxing), and doing volunteer house building work in Cambodia with Rockin4Tabitha, part of Tabitha Foundation Canada. Paula has one fur-child, a 68 lb retired racing greyhound named Rebel.
