Blue Whale!

· I've never imagined seeing the biggest animal on earth never mind two at the same time one in front and one beside the Musculus I was riding in. they were so close! I will miss the sound of the waves splashing against the Sedna IV. I hope I'll be lucky enough to come again on the Sedna IV. I've enjoyed everyday and minute of this trip. Including the long hard days of writing in Richard Sears log book. I hope one day he will stop having nightmares about me! I'm glad I was able to have this experience I worked hard to get here, only the people in Germany and my Mom know how hard I really worked. I hope that more people will be able to have the same chances to experience in life that I have. I've also learned a lot about working on a ship! Hope one day I will be able to work on a ship even if I have to learn French! - Lauren Nihan
Humpback by Musculuc

· During these last two weeks many things have happened that will affect me for the rest of my life. We've had encounters with the largest animal on the planet and have made friendships that will last forever. My last trip we all made friends but it wasn't as close as I am now with these people. I love everyone and everything and I can't believe it's ending. But really I guess it's not. Because of these trips and the dedication of the people at Students on Ice we, as students, reap the benefits. We make friends and memories for life and also carry the profound love for the giants of the sea. And with that, we can help nurture the seas and our world back to health. Youth these days don't realise how much power we truly hold, and when we feel deeply about a subject we have to fight for it. That's what I plan to do for these wonderful creatures of the sea. - Linsday Parker
Sedna Lifering

· This trip was so much more than I expected. I learned so much like Port, Starboard, Stern and Bow! I learned how to put up sails and tie a bowline. Go Knots! I'm going to miss everyone. The crew and the students. For the past twelve days these people have been like my family. I couldn't think of better people to share this amazing experience with. Love you all, Alex
P.S. thank you Sedna IV & Student on Ice for making my dreams come true.

· It's all "minke to me".
· Guy's Driving
· Trying to run away from meetings…
· Simple Living, Less is more!
Sunrise over St. Lawrence

· This trip was so incredible it's hard to put into words but I think I found it helpful on a different level as well. Recently I've been faced with the decision of what I would like to do with the rest of my life and as part of that question of what kind of legacy I would like to leave behind, how I would like to be remembered. While acting or something along those lines is intriguing and has impact it means nothing in the long run. Science was something I was seriously considering but I had my doubts as to the worth of putting my entire life into the study of one thing, seemingly insignificant. However, seeing the beauty of these whales, the way they interact with their environment and the beauty of that relationship, I realised really how sad it would be to let this go and how valuable anything to preserve this could be preserving our planet is really the greatest legacy anyone could leave behind. - Sarah
Humpbacks

· I never gave much thought to many of the environmental issues that plague our world… I knew they were out there and that I should take steps to help solve them but I didn't do anything about it. But now after hearing about the problems our marine animals go through, many that are already endangered, I realized that I need to start doing my part in order for others later on to I realized that I need to start doing my part in order for others later on to experience what I have on this trip. P.S. I love Mechins - Alexis Paige Somerton, P.G., B.C. 18

· Driving the Musculus between two blue whales!!

· Whales are such peaceful animals; I think we could all learn something from them. They live in harmony with their surroundings and after all the damage we have done to them they have no malice towards us, I think if human beings could take a page out of the whale book and master these lessons, we would be better off
