About the Students on Ice Foundation

The Students on Ice (SOI) Foundation is an award-winning program for educating, inspiring and empowering youth through hands-on learning in the Arctic and Antarctic. Led by a team of scientists, elders, artists and visionary leaders, youth learn first-hand about important social, environmental and political topics such as climate change, ocean conservation, truth & reconciliation, and become ambassadors for a sustainable future.

Through ship-based journeys to the Arctic and Antarctic, our educational journeys immerse students in an environment few have explored and provide an unparalleled classroom for learning about these vibrant regions, and the challenges and opportunities that they face.

The result is a network of more than 2,500 alumni from 52 countries with a strong connection to the natural world that fuels their goals and ambitions on a local and global level. Connected with SOI’s global network of fellow alumni, partners and experts across industries, our alumni are making a difference around the world.
