Teacher at Sea

Teacher at Sea

SOI is pleased to introduce an alumna from the 2009 Antarctic expedition and congratulate her on her recent adventure across the Arctic. Émilie Hérbert-Houle, a teacher and current graduate student at the Université du Québec in environmental research, embarked on the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent to discover more about Canada’s Arctic Ocean.

Led by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), the expedition lasted 47 days, and consisted of ongoing research to map Canada’s Extended Continental Shelf in the Arctic Ocean. Émilie was selected to join the Natural Resource Canada expedition as their Teacher at Sea, documenting the journey and sharing key discoveries of this exciting research project.
