SOIF Presents to the Ocean Elders

While in New York City, President and Founder of Students on Ice, Geoff Green, had the unique opportunity to present to the Ocean Elders. This is a relatively new group of global leaders who joined together to protect, value and celebrate the ocean and its wildlife. Its impressive list of members includes H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, Sir Richard Branson, Dr. Don Walsh, James Cameron, Queen Noor of Jordan, Ted Turner and Neil Young along with many other prominent visionaries.

Geoff’s presentation focused on the 14-year history of Students on Ice, its impacts, and the importance of engaging and educating youth on critical issues such as ocean conservation. He noted that in many ways, Students on Ice could easily be called Students on Oceans, since SOI’s ship-based expeditions spend so much time exploring the Polar oceans!

Students on Ice and Ocean Elders plan to explore ways of collaborating in the future.
