On Friday April 19 at 7:30 pm, Students on Ice alumni will share their insights and observations from their Arctic expeditions as part of the Arctic Armchair Adventures at the Extraordinary Arctic Festival at the Canadian Museum of Nature in Ottawa!
Complemented by breathtaking imagery and inspiring footage, several Students on Ice alumni from both Canada’s North and south will lead a virtual expedition through the Arctic. Hear about their visits to Arctic communities and archaeological sites, as well as their encounters with wildlife. Drawing on what they learned from scientists and Inuit elders and from first-hand observations, they will discuss the changing Arctic environment and how it is linked to broader global changes.
The Extraordinary Arctic Festival continues at the Museum until April 28. Here are some other planned activities:
Earth Day – The Museum is open on Monday, April 22. Enjoy free general admission to celebrate Earth Day! Participate in Inuit language activities, games and stories.
Nature Nocturne – Join us on April 26 for the final Nocturne before the summer break.
Unikkausivut: Sharing Our Stories – Don’t miss these powerful documentaries about life in the Arctic over the decades. The Thursday night series is targeted to adults, and the weekend programme is ideal for families.
Arctic Discoveries – Learn about fascinating Arctic discoveries, collections and ongoing research by some of our Museum scientists.
