SOI is excited to be part of the National Inuit Youth Summit, taking place in Nain Nunatsiavut from July 31st-August 4th 2017. Every two years the National Inuit Youth Summit gathers over 100 Inuit youth from all across Inuit Nunangat representing the four Inuit regions. This year’s Summit is centred around the themes of reconciliation, suicide prevention, culture & Inuit practices, and education & empowerment as defined by the National Inuit Youth Council.
Our Arctic Youth & Partnerships Manager Caitlyn Baikie is in Nain this week representing SOI at our booth, facilitating a workshop on reconciliation and sharing information about our exciting programs including the upcoming 2017 Arctic Expedition and the Arctic Youth & Partnerships Program.
The Arctic Youth & Partnerships Program is in its third year and is focused on fostering in the next generation of leaders a thorough understanding of the Arctic, its history and complexities, in order to set a high standard for sustainable development, healthy communities and environmental stewardship in Canada’s North.
We cannot wait to reconnect to our alumni from across Inuit Nunangat. If you are in Nain, come and visit our booth!
Our involvement in the National Inuit Youth Summit is made possible thanks to our partner, Inuit Tapariit Kanatami.
Thank you to all of our partners for your support of the SOI Foundation. Together, we are making a difference in the lives of youth and the future of the Arctic.
