Your donation helps to provide youth from around the world with life-changing expeditions as well as post expedition leadership support, education and career opportunities. Thanks to the generous support of donors and partners, more than 2,600 students from 52 countries have benefitted from the Students on Ice program.

APPLICATIONS & SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

 

There is no deadline for general applications for our expeditions. General applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but we encourage applicants to submit their forms as soon as possible to ensure that spots are still available on expedition, and that you have adequate time to gather the funds for the expedition fee. General applications are accepted from students from any country in the world.

 

Applications for scholarships have specific selection criteria and deadlines associated with them. Please see below for additional information for each scholarship that is offered.

2016 ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION
Our next Antarctic Expedition is scheduled for December 2016 to January 2017. High school and post secondary (college/university) students are eligible to apply. Please check back in the fall for more details and application forms.

 

 

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR THE 2015 ARCTIC EXPEDITION

The following scholarships are available for the Students on Ice 2015 Arctic Expedition, and are made possible through the generous support of our partners. You can apply for each of these scholarships through our online application form.

 

If you are not eligible for any of the scholarships listed below, you can fill out the application and indicate that you have financial need. Your application will then be placed into a general scholarship pool.

 

Attention scholarship applicants:

Applications for scholarships will be processed and reviewed after their respective deadline dates. Processing all the applications will take several weeks, so please be patient. Successful candidates will be contacted by either email or phone, and all applicants can expect to be notified of their participation status via email by the beginning of May 2015. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide updates on the status of your application until final selections have been made. We appreciate your understanding.

 

 

Scholarships for Canadian Students

 

Apply for these scholarships through our online application form. Unless otherwise stated, all Canadian scholarships cover the entire expedition fee of $11,500 including travel to and from the gateway city of Ottawa. Please see individual scholarship listings below for deadline dates.

 

Linda Lang Visual Art bursary Applications due April 30, 2015

For high school students from across Canada. This $1,000 bursary will assist students who are fundraising to cover the costs of the expedition fee. Please click HERE for more details.

 

 

Schad Foundation/Earth Rangers bursaries Applications closed!

For high school and post secondary students from across Canada. These bursaries cover approximately 50% of the expedition fees($5,500) and are generously provided by the Schad Foundation and Earth Rangers.

 

Leacross Foundation Scholarships - Applications closed!

For young women from across Canada who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, R. Bern and the Leacross Foundation.

 

Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarship - Applications closed!

For students residing in Newfoundland and Labrador who are currently enrolled in high school. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

 

NordMAB Scholarships for Quebec -Applications closed!

Please visit the Manicouagan-Uapishka Biosphere Reserve website for more information and application instructions.

 

Inuvialuit Scholarship - Applications closed!

For Inuit students from Inuvialuit Region who are currently enrolled in high school. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation.

 

Nunatsiavut Scholarships - Applications closed!

For Inuit students from Nunatsiavut Region who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Nunatsiavut Government.

 

Nunavik Scholarships - Applications closed!

For Inuit students from Nunavik Region who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partners: Makivik Corporation and the Kativik Regional Government.

 

Nunavut Scholarships - Applications closed!

For Inuit students residing in Nunavut who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partners: Adventure Canada, Atuqtuarvik Corporation, Baffinland, the Government of Nunavut Department of Environment, Kitikmeot Inuit Association, NCC Investment Group, Oceans North, Qikiqtaaluk Corporation and WWF-Canada.

 

NWT & Yukon Scholarships- Applications closed!

For students residing in the Northwest Territories or Yukon who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, WWF-Canada.

 

Parks Canada Summer Program Scholarships

Stantec Scholarship

For students living in Aboriginal communities across Canada which partner with Stantec: Inuvialuit Settlement Region, Yellowknife, Tulita (Sahtu region), Labrador, Nunavut, Cold Lake AB, Fort McMurray AB, and Northern Ontario (James Bay). Please contact Stantec for more information and application instructions.


Scholarships for American Students


Apply for these scholarships through our online application form.
Unless otherwise stated, all American scholarships cover the entire expedition fee of $11, 500 but do not include travel to and from the gateway city of Ottawa. Recipients will be responsible for travel expenses to and from Ottawa.

 

U.S. Embassy Scholarships -Applications closed!

For American students currently enrolled in high school across the United States. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Embassy of the United States in Ottawa, Canada.

 

Beatrice Snyder Family Foundation Scholarships - application details available soon!

For American students in Rhode Island, Tennessee, and New York City who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Beatrice Snyder Family Foundation.

 

Climate One Scholarship - Applications accepted between March 24 and April 15, 2015.

For American students in the San Francisco Bay Area who are currently enrolled in high school. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, Climate One. In order to be eligible, please register and attend Climate One's "Power Ball" event on March 24, 2015. Applicants will need to write a short essay about the event in the application form.

 

Scholarships for International Students

 

Apply for these scholarships through our online application form. Unless otherwise stated, all international scholarships cover the entire expedition fee of $11, 500. Please see the application form for more details on travel expenses.

 

Greenland -Applications closed!

These scholarships are generously provided by our partners, WWF Greenland and Oceans North.

 

Norway -Applications closed!

For Norwegian students currently registered in a post-secondary institution. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ottawa.

 

Malaysia - applications details available soon!

These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Sultan Mizan Antarctic Research Foundation.

 

Monaco - applications closed
