Our mandate is to provide students, educators and scientists from around the world with inspiring educational opportunities at the ends of the Earth and, in doing so, help them foster a new understanding and respect for the planet.

Your donation helps to provide youth from around the world with life-changing expeditions as well as post expedition leadership support, education and career opportunities. Thanks to the generous support of donors and partners, more than 2,600 students from 52 countries have benefitted from the Students on Ice program.

APPLICATIONS & SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

 

There is no deadline for general applications for our expeditions. General applications are accepted on a rolling basis, but we encourage applicants to submit their forms as soon as possible to ensure that spots are still available on expedition, and that you have adequate time to gather the funds for the expedition fee. General applications are accepted from students from any country in the world.

 

Applications for scholarships have specific selection criteria and deadlines associated with them. Please see below for additional information for each scholarship that is offered.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION FOR THE 2015 ARCTIC EXPEDITION

Please note that we will be announcing additional scholarship opportunities during the month of February. Please check back often for updates!

 

Unless otherwise specified, all scholarship applications are due on March 15, 2015 at 5pm EST. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot confirm receipt of your specific submission.

 

The following scholarships are available for the Students on Ice 2015 Arctic Expedition, and are made possible through the generous support of our partners. You can apply for each of these scholarships through our online application form.

 

Scholarships for Canadian Students

 

Apply for these scholarships through our online application form. All applications for the scholarships below are due on March 15, 2015 at 5pm EST. Unless otherwise stated, all Canadian scholarships cover the entire expedition fee of $11,500 including travel to and from the gateway city of Ottawa.

 

Leacross Foundation Scholarships

For young women from across Canada who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, R. Bern and the Leacross Foundation.

 

Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarship

For students residing in Newfoundland and Labrador who are currently enrolled in high school. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

 

Inuvialuit Scholarship

For Inuit students from Inuvialuit Region who are currently enrolled in high school. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation.,

 

Nunatsiavut Scholarships

For Inuit students from Nunatsiavut Region who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Nunatsiavut Government.

 

Nunavik Scholarships

For Inuit students from Nunavik Region who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partners: Makivik Corporation and the Kativik Regional Government.

 

Nunavut Scholarships

For Inuit students residing in Nunavut who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partners: Adventure Canada, Atuqtuarvik Corporation, Baffinland, the Government of Nunavut Department of Environment, Kitikmeot Inuit Association, NCC Investment Group, Qikiqtaaluk Corporation.

 

NWT & Yukon Scholarships

For students residing in the Northwest Territories or Yukon who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, WWF-Canada.

 

Parks Canada Summer Program Scholarships

Please visit the Parks Canada website for more information and application instructions.

 

Stantec Scholarship

For students living in Aboriginal communities across Canada which partner with Stantec: Inuvialuit Settlement Region, Yellowknife, Tulita (Sahtu region), Labrador, Nunavut, Cold Lake AB, Fort McMurray AB, and Northern Ontario (James Bay). Please contact Stantec for more information and application instructions.


Scholarships for American Students


Apply for these scholarships through our online application form.
Unless otherwise stated, all American scholarships cover the entire expedition fee of $11, 500 but do not include travel to and from the gateway city of Ottawa. Recipients will be responsible for travel expenses to and from Ottawa.

 

U.S. Embassy Scholarships - application due March 15, 2015

For American students currently enrolled in high school across the United States. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Embassy of the United States in Ottawa, Canada.

 

Beatrice Snyder Family Foundation Scholarships - application details available soon!

For American students in Rhode Island, Tennessee, and New York City who are currently enrolled in high school. These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Beatrice Snyder Family Foundation.

 

Climate One Scholarship - Applications accepted between March 24 and April 15, 2015.

For American students in the San Francisco Bay Area who are currently enrolled in high school. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, Climate One. In order to be eligible, please register and attend Climate One's "Power Ball" event on March 24, 2015. Applicants will need to write a short essay about the event in the application form.

 

Scholarships for International Students

 

Apply for these scholarships through our online application form. Unless otherwise stated, all international scholarships cover the entire expedition fee of $11, 500. Please see the application form for more details on travel expenses.

 

Greenland - applications due March 15, 2015

This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, WWF Greenland.

 

Norway - applications due March 31, 2015

For Norwegian students currently registered in a post-secondary institution. This scholarship is generously provided by our partner, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Ottawa.

 

Malaysia - applications details available soon!

These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Sultan Mizran Antarctic Research Foundation.

 

Monaco - applications closed

These scholarships are generously provided by our partner, the Prince Albert of Monaco II Foundation.
