Ashbury Student Thom Haghighat Talab on participating in the upcoming 2016 Arctic Expedition!

We were lucky enough to have Thom stop by the SOI office a couple weeks ago and answer a few questions about his upcoming participation in the 2016 Arctic Expedition. Here is what he had to say:

What I am most looking forward to about the Students on Ice Arctic Expedition is: “Definitely the people that are going on board. I am excited to meet different people that are all interested and looking forward to making a change in our climate. I saw a video on the webpage and there were different people: aboriginal people, people from America and Canada and I am just really looking forward to meeting different people. “

What I am hoping to learn while on this expedition: “I am really excited about looking at the scenery because it is a really beautiful place but I am also hoping to learn a little bit more about some of the causes of climate change and what we can do to make our everyday lives more sustainable and to work towards a more sustainable future.”

How I found out about Students on Ice: “I actually found out by my science teacher. He talked about it in class and he showed us the video for Students On Ice. When he showed the video I got a better sense of what it was and what we were going to do there so that really got me interested and he asked who is interested in this trip, I rose my hand and then Ms. Raina actually emailed me about it and how there was scholarship involved and so I did my application and hoped for the best.”

Thom attends Ashbury College in Ottawa, read his full expedition bio here.
