WELCOME THE FIRST DAY OF the ‘FLOE EDGE’ 2004 EXPEDITION! (posted 2:00 p.m. EST)
Please visit us each day over the next two weeks to ‘follow the journey’ ...
Weather today in Ottawa/Chelsea is a fabulously sunny, 21 degrees celsius ... with no rain anticipated for the next couple of days. Here is a shot of the back lawn where the expedition participants will be gathering tonight.
Good Evening (posted 9:00 p.m. EST)
A short visit to the Expediton arrival location found the Students On Ice staff, expedition leader Geoff Green, the team and first arriving student participants amidst a flurry of activity. Cars being unloaded of luggage and groceries, BBQ fixings being prepared, student interviews with TVO being conducted on the balcony, and warm sunshine flowing through the wooded site ... I had a moment for a quick hello only in the almost electric pre-expedition atmosphere... as some folks were preparing for a swim before dinner, and all anticipating food, final arrivals, and this evening’s opening Arctic presentation.
I was able to get Linda from the SOI staff to take a break from the multitude of tasks at hand in order to sit for a moment at her desk while this photo was taken ... Thanks Linda!
Please return in the morning for an update from the Students On Ice ... ‘Floe Edge’ 2004 Expedition.
Good Morning (posted Thurs. 9:30 a.m. EST)
Great ... additional photos from Wednesday evening’s Arctic Expedition opening events have arrived ... enjoy!
