We are excited to announce two new opportunities for this summer’s Arctic Expedition! To allow time for interested youth to apply, we have extended the application deadline (for all scholarships) to April 1, 2016!
Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) has partnered with Students on Ice to provide a full scholarship for one Inuit high school or university student from anywhere in Canada to join the 2016 Arctic Expedition!
Cross-cultural understanding is core to the SOI expedition experience and to better understanding the Arctic, its people, challenges and opportunities facing this important region. SOI is proud to partner with ITK in supporting Inuit youth through our life-changing educational journeys to the Arctic.
SOI expeditions not only educate youth about the Arctic through science, exploration and the arts but also provide a unique platform for Truth & Reconciliation. This is fostered by a diverse range of educational staff and participants from across Canada’s north and around the world including Inuit elders, artists and business leaders.
Thanks to ITK and SOI’s other generous partners, more than 30 per cent of scholarship recipients are from northern communities. Visit our website to apply!
*Note: Eligible students who have already submitted applications will be considered for this scholarship. You do not need to re-apply.
With the generous support of our partner, WWF-Canada, Inuit high school and university students are eligible to apply for a 2-4 month paid internship opportunity in WWF’s Iqaluit office and a full scholarship to join SOI’s 2016 Arctic Expedition! WWF is the world’s largest conservation organization and is committed to building a future where nature and people thrive.
Based in WWF-Canada’s Iqaluit office, the successful applicant will support WWF’s Arctic program and its mission to ensure that key Arctic habitats are conserved for important wildlife species and the people who depend on them.
To apply, complete the online application form and select the scholarship option under the section “Paying the Expedition Fee”. Within the scholarship section, select the box that reads, “I am Inuit and interested in learning more about a paid summer internship position with WWF-Canada.”
*Note: Eligible students who have already submitted applications will also be considered for the WWF scholarships. If you have already submitted an application and are also interested in being considered for the WWF internship please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
