WELCOME TO THE STUDENTS ON ICE
ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION 2006!
"We are proud to welcome you to our annual Students on Ice expedition to Antarctica!
This year we are thrilled to have an extraordinary team of 75 students from around the world, and 25 phenomenal scientists, polar experts and expedition team members travelling south to the World's Greatest Classroom - Antarctica!
Between December 16th and January 2nd parents, students, educators - and polar enthusiasts can tune in to this site to share all of our expedition moments. We will be posting photos, journals and expedition updates on a daily basis! Please note, that occasionally, due to our ship's position, it may be impossible to send images. Our webmaster back at SOI HQ will report any and all developments on the site. But please remember - we are in one of the world's most remote corners of the world - flexibility is the key!
Travelling to Antarctica is like travelling to another planet. Yet, it is also an amazing window to our world, and a cornerstone of our global ecosystem. Antarctica serves as an incredible platform for education and science. We hope these student expeditioners will return home as ambassadors and leaders for our planet's environment, with new level of inspiration and motivation for the future.
Please enjoy your visit with us!
In the expedition spirit,
Geoff Green
