Seven Students Go To Antarctica - Celebratory Kick-off at the Explorers Club!
NEW YORK
A special evening was held on November 29th. in honour of seven New York City students who have been selected to participate on an upcoming Students on Ice Expedition to Antarctica.
Students Livio Jimenez Melo, Anthoula Lelekides, Andy Diaz, Timothy Koeth, and Thomas Herlihy - each representing a New York borough - will be traveling to Antarctica this December as part of the Students on Ice Expedition. These once-in-a-lifetime opportunities were made possible by the generous support of Expedition patron, Mr. Harold Snyder.
Congresswomen Carolyn Maloney and Nydia Velazquez, Senator Chuck Schumer, Bronx Borough President Adolfo Carrion, were instrumental in supporting two students from the I-LEAD Program at Bank Street College of Education to participate in the award-winning polar education program. These young and exceptional individuals have been chosen for many reasons including the ongoing leadership and commitment at their schools and communities.
