Bobbi Rose Koe

2007 Arctic

Bobbi Rose Koe is a Teetl’it Gwich’in, from Fort McPherson, Northwest Territories, Canada, but is currently residing in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

Bobbi Rose was a part of the Arctic 2007 Expedition. Her interests are traveling, teaching, sewing/beading, and to learn as much as she can.

Bobbi Rose was raised by her grandparents and community on the banks of the Peel River, travelling throughout the Gwich’in Country at a young age. She found she was passionate about the Gwich’in way of life; culture, traditions, values, stories, history and just being out on the land with her family and friends where she feels at home. Still learning, she teaches what she knows to anyone who wants to learn. Once, while attending a meeting with her grandfathers, they both encouraged her to speak for the people, land, animals and water. Since then she been advocating for environmental issues, especially concerning the Peel River Watershed. In 2015, she paddled the Wind River with CPAWS Yukon and 4 other youth. Inspired by the journey, Bobbi Rose and two of her fellow paddlers created Youth of the Peel Society. It is an organization committed to hosting canoe trips in the Peel Watershed, to show and share their experience with other youth. Bobbi Rose believes every youth should experience being out on the land, spending time with their elders and learning as much as they can.
