Climate One at The Commonwealth Club is a thriving leadership dialogue on energy, economy and the environment. It brings together top thinkers and doers from business, government, academia and advocacy groups to advance the discussion about a clean energy future.
In 2007 Greg Dalton went with the Commonwealth Club of California on an expedition to the Arctic, where he saw first hand the effects of climate change. “It was a personal encounter with a young girl in a Chuchki village that struck me the most,” said Greg about his experience. While speaking to her and her father about the changing lives in the Arctic Circle, she suddenly squealed, “Wow!” and started chasing a butterfly. Her father remarked, “We didn’t used to have those.”
“It was a moment of wonder,” said Greg, “but also of extreme change and alarm.”
Since then, Greg and Climate One have focused on furthering the conversation for a clean and prosperous future. We at Climate One believe an intelligent response to climate disruption will come from a thoughtful, ongoing process of synthesizing perspectives from many stakeholders: business, academia, journalism, advocacy groups, and engaged individuals. By bringing together people from all perspectives and industries, we promote understanding, expand common ground, and point society toward a cleaner, greener future.
Climate One believes that the opportunity to see the immediate effects of global warming in person is life-changing. What we do in our generation will affect future generations to come.
Climate One has been a proud sponsor of Students on Ice since 2012.
