Katherine McCran-Leach

Manager, Executive and Office Support

Katherine McCran-Leach

Inspired by her own travels to Antarctica more than a decade ago, Katherine joined Students on Ice in 2019 where she provides leadership to the executive and administrative support function within SOI and offers day-to-day support to SOI’s Founder and Executive Director.

Katherine comes to SOI with more than 15 years of experience working with Conservation Organizations. Prior to joining SOI Katherine filled in as the Program Manager at Wildlife Habitat Canada, where she oversaw all aspects of the Conservation Grant Program and worked closely with the Board of Directors. Katherine was one of the first staff of the Canadian Boreal Initiative where she managed operations and provided support to the Boreal Leadership Council for more than a decade. Katherine holds an Honours degree in Environment and Resource Studies from the University of Waterloo, graduating in a joint program with Wilfred Laurier University in Business Studies.

Katherine and her husband have trekked on each of the seven continents, with plans to spend more time exploring the world with their young children. In the meantime, she is thrilled to be part of a team offering life-changing polar expeditions to youth.
