Emma Tranter

Communications and Media Assistant

Emma Tranter

As the Communications and Media Assistant at Students on Ice, Emma can often be found following office staff around with a camera, updating SOI’s social media, and thinking of new ways to tell the multitude of stories that come out of SOI.

Emma is a recent graduate of Carleton University’s School of Journalism. Before joining SOI, she interned on Parliament Hill, worked as a reporter at iPolitics, and worked in communications for the Northern Policy Institute. Originally from Thunder Bay, she misses Lake Superior so much that she has a small outline of the lake tattooed on her side. She is excited to be working at a place that combines so many of her interests – from storytelling, to conservation, to youth engagement.

In her spare time, Emma enjoys rock climbing, running, reading stories from her favourite journalists, and petting dogs.
