Pirita Näkkäläjärvi is a business, communications and indigenous expert. She belongs to the indigenous people Sámi, whose native region Sápmi has been divided by the borders of Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia. Pirita brings a wealth of perspectives to the expedition ranging from world-class business skills to grass-root indigenous media experience. Pirita started her career at Merrill Lynch, after which she worked at Nokia, Booz & Company and Metso. Currently she works as a Deals professional at PwC. Pirita’s passions are media & communications and Sámi culture. In 2012-17 she worked as the Head of Yle Sápmi, the Sámi-language division of the Finnish Broadcasting Company. In 2017, Pirita was chosen as the Sámi of the Year. She is a vocal advocate for Sámi rights and her expert analysis is regularly sought by Finnish media. Pirita holds MSc Media & Communications with Distinction from LSE and MSc Economics from HSE.
