Ian Tamblyn

Although Ian has been a musician and songwriter for many years with 38 CDs and albums to his credit, his work in the north began as a writer in residence and diver in the Bering Strait and Chukchi Sea where he studied the feeding habits of gray whales and walrus. Since that time Ian has been visiting the Arctic each year and has produced five CDs musically exploring this part of the world. Ian has worked with Students on Ice for several years and has conducted music camps in Torngat Mountains National Park and Rankin Inlet.

Currently, he is an instructor at Carleton University where he teaches a composition and songwriting course to fourth year music students. This fall his play “Land of Trash” will tour British Columbia with Green Thumb Theatre for Young Audiences.
