Senior Research Associate/Certified Clinical Counsellor

Christina Hackett

I have worked as a program developer and camp counsellor since 1999- both at summer camps for individuals with disabilities and chronic illnesses; and as a clinical counsellor with youth and families in Vancouver, and in Nain, Nunatsiavut. When I lived in Nain, Nunatsiavut, I helped start a land-based program called Going Off, Growing Strong, that aims to strengthen social and cultural connectedness for Inuit youth. Because of this experience, and my time in Nain, I continue to work with communities to create culturally responsive ways of evaluating land-based programs in Circumpolar contexts. I also do research exploring how intergenerational trauma influences the health and mental health of various groups in Canada.
