Alain Dupuis works for Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) as an Arctic Science Advisor, where he supports DFO science programs that undertake work in freshwater and marine ecosystems in Arctic and sub-Arctic Canada. He also helps to coordinate DFO’s role in international Arctic science activities. He was introduced to the Arctic on a ship-based research project in the Canadian Beaufort Sea where he participated in the collection of fish and benthic invertebrates amongst other ecosystem parameters. His previous experiences include working as a biologist at the Experimental Lakes Area in northwestern Ontario to study stressor impacts on boreal freshwater ecosystems. Alain has obtained a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Manitoba specializing on climate change impacts on freshwater plankton.
