ABOUT E2C

Project Outline

Launched in April 2019, the SOI Foundation will work with youth (aged 15 to 30) to co-create and lead unique service activities that address the issues, opportunities, and needs of northern communities.

As participants identify and address their community needs, E2C will support their project development skills and help them grow their abilities to initiate and develop meaningful and sustainable community service projects. The result will be a cohort of youth with new leadership skills, entrepreneurial experience, and an enhanced sense of community service.

E2C will engage in five communities across Inuit Nunangat; Makkovik, Kugluktuk, Panniqtuuq, Kangirsuk and Inuvik.

E2C Objectives

1. To engage a core group of northern youth between the ages of 15 and 30 as program participants in a process of co-creating service initiatives through which they develop leadership skills, experience the benefits of community service and are inspired to become lifelong active members of their community.

2. To create a cohort of community youth leaders across Inuit Nunangat who are empowered and inspired to take on future initiatives and leadership roles in their community.

3. To involve additional northern youth as peer participants in the community service initiatives led by the core program participants. By taking an active role in initiatives led by the program participants, they will be exposed to the benefits of community service and share in the inspiration of being active community members.

4. To involve Canadian youth through an innovative communications campaign that shares the experiences and impacts of participating youth in order to inspire youth across the country to pursue their own service opportunities.
