Overview of the Students on Ice Antarctic University Expedition 2009:
February 12-28, 2009
Between February 12th and February 28th parents, students, educators and polar enthusiasts can visit this site to share all of our expedition moments. We will be posting photos, journals and expedition updates on a daily basis! Please note, that occasionally, due to our ships position, it may be impossible to send images. Our webmaster back at SOI HQ will report any and all developments on the site. But please remember we are in one of the most remote places in the world flexibility is the key!
Travelling to Antarctica is like travelling to another planet. Yet, it is also an amazing window to our world, and a cornerstone of our global ecosystem. Antarctica serves as an incredible platform for education and science. We hope these student expeditioners will return home as ambassadors and leaders for our planets environment, with new levels of inspiration and motivation for the future. This expedition would not be possible without the support of our many great partners including Brita, Filter for Good, LAN Airlines, the Canadian Circumpolar Institute, the University of Alberta, the University of Northern British Columbia, the University of Ottawa, ArcticNet, Impossible 2 Possible, Makivik Corporation, the World Meteorological Organization, the International Council for Science, the Millennium Scholarship Foundation and the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
Please enjoy your journey with us!
